Steeped in a pleasing natural setting, removed from the countless distractions in a day, and a life, these minimally structured days (all activities optional) afford creating souls lots of time with their work while immersed in New England’s autumn beauty and the companionship of others devoting time and focus to creative efforts.
Participants are encouraged to bring work-in-progress, or projects they wish to initiate, and plan to spend most of the session hours drawing on the rich inner and outer inspiration evoked in the spirit of a retreat atmosphere.
Facilitator Phyllis Ring, author of several nonfiction works, including a collection of essays, Life at First Sight: Finding the Divine in the Details, also writes fiction. Her work has appeared in such publications as Christian Science Monitor, Ms., SageWoman, Writer’s Digest, and Yankee. She has worked as an editor, as instructor for the Long Ridge Writers Group of the Institute of Children’s Literature, lived and worked in Europe and China, and facilitates workshops for soulful writers and investigating souls.

“Headed into the retreat,
I set myself a goal:
To get
through an impasse in my first
draft.
Not only did I meet that
goal,
I was astonishingly
pleased to find myself
finish the first draft.
